The moment when he and spock agreed to a 'top secret' mission involving the enterprise going into the romulan neutral zone without provocation and taking a 50/50 chance that the ship would be destroyed all in the hope that the sub commander of the romulan ship would invite both Kirk and spock aboard said ship after which spock would seduce the female captain of this warship of a predatory, fascist society which would give kirk, who could plausibly pass as a romulan after his ears were elongated slightly through temporary surgery, an opportunity to steal a cloaking device the federation were not sure existed and did not know was on that ship and then the enterprise would somehow escape using the cloaking device despite having no idea whether or not it would actually work
