Any comments on this piece? I literally binge watched the whole season in two days, quite good.

like 6-8 months late, but yeah it was good, please tell me you watched it with subtitles that translated the italian parts.
One of the strongest seasons of television ever. Beautifully directed and great performances, I hope Jude Law wins an Emmy for best lead actor for this. Too bad it seems this show sorta flew under the radar.
The episode where he goes to Africa was awesome. I really enjoyed it but i'm reluctant about another season. I think it worked well as a miniseries.

>One of the strongest seasons of television ever
This is just completely ridiculous, anon. The performances are almost all dreadful (Diane Keaton is insufferably melodramatic, whoever plays Voiello is genuinely atrocious even though he gets some of the most interesting dialogue, and even Jude Law, who does his best, suffers because his lines are dumb). His publicist was one of the worst actresses I've seen on television. The music is awful and constantly recycled, but not in an artful way that builds ambiance. The lighting is abominably low budget.
The costume design was great, yeah. And the premise is fun (if a bit underutilized, in favor of
plots involving character foibles and insecurities). There are also individual scenes that are excellent (most dream sequences, most of the times Lenny prays, the procession into Africa, the Greenlandic girl dancing, etc.). But there's a ton of dumb, shitty stuff that makes the show seem amateurish by and large (almost all of his big, plot-important speeches are patently retarded, that climactic seen where he prays in front of all the trucks on the road, that ridiculous tirade to the Italian prime minister/president or whatever).
It just seems like the show is too desperate to be dramatic. Remember the very first episode, with the nun who cooks? And she immediately wipes a single tear from her eye when Lenny reprimands her?
Retarded. Don't get me wrong, I still watched the whole thing, and it's a good guilty pleasure. But still, retarded. Someone please explain to me why everyone still thinks it's good.

That scene was glorious. How he just put him in his mortal place.
