Dr. Phill is not malicious in that way but the crazier the problem he finds the higher the ratings without a doubt. Remember Cash me Outside girl? She got famous off of her terrible situation shown on the show and she will always be a terrible perospn becase it made her famous.

That being said Dr. Phill does help people and I don't see him doing this in the unapologetic and hurtful way that the guy was doing. But the guy did get a good hit in.

Yeah it does kind of feel like exploitation to air these people's problems on national TV. But that being said it's the platform of the show which creates the revenue to provide help for these people as he offers almost every guest extended payed for rehab/counseling from outside sources.

Having a PHD does technically make you a doctor in academia although it's not common to refer to yourself as such unless you are a medical doctor. It's something you might put on your resume but if you're in an airport and someone yells for a doctor you probably shouldn't go running over if you have a doctorate of philosophy.
