'The Mummy' Director Reveals Why Brendan Fraser Didn't

This is a bullshit excuse, just have him do a cameo in the background or in heavy makeup or something, obviously it doesn't have to be the same character with continuity and shit.

The Tom Cruise movie could have really been good but like most movies nowadays, the editing is what weakened it severely, with it not knowing if it wanted to be a horror or a comedy.

Also, the scenes flowed too quick.

Say what you will about the Amazing Spiderman 2 (because the director produced that), that movie actually had pretty decent pacing whereas this Mummy movie was too fast, scenes came in and went.

The Russel Crowe stuff was pretty decent cos that is the part where it had some great dialogue to work with otherwise the rest of the movie the dialogue didn't feel that realistic and the acting wasn't that good.

The mummy looked creepy when she first was resurrected but unfortunately she sucked the life of humans too quickly. Should have had more scenes of her roaming the streets as a decaying corpse and scary randoms.

Do you think we could start a petition to have Brendan in a sequel? I know they aren't officially planning a Mummy sequel and are doing Bride of Frankenstein next, BUT MAYBE we could get them to have Brendan come back for a short 10 minute film that could be released on the Tm Cruise mummy blu ray as a bonus special feature?

All we have to do is to remind the director of the Tom Cruise movie that he included the book of the dead prop from the 1999 movie in this one; so why not get Brendan back to appear in a short film where Russel Crowe can narrate about Rick O Connel.

They dont have to make the 1999 and 2001 movies canon in this universe cos they arent but they can easily make their own Rick O Connel exist and be played by Brendan.

If anyone has watched Doctor Who, they did the same thing with Paul McGann who only had screen time in one 90's movie and a couple years ago they brought him back to appear in a 5 minute special.

Nah, I think its clear this movie is just about the concept of the Universal Mummy, not related in any way to Brendan's movie. They both just happen to be called that, in my mind.
