Am I the only one that thinks The Graduate is gratuitously overrated?
It panders to baby boomers who put it on their shoulders because it "speaks" to them. Any other generation is left out of the context
Take the "plastics" quote, for example. It's regarded as an all-time great quote but I literally had to look up why. Essentially it's because baby boomers like Dustin Hoffman's character wanted to escape normalcy and "the man".
I understand the quote now but that carries no weight for any generation outside of the baby boomers.

Let's not act like the Baby Boomers' "plight" is anything but self-absorbed cultural fad.
This just goes to show out poorly aged this movie is.
