Shows with a "mystery" premise are the click bait of television. They pretend to be deep, but it's all manufactured to get retards to tune in each week. They get away with plot holes and garbage writing by pretending there is a secret meaning or emerging story. A premise like this can work, but networks can't help themselves from dragging things out and spreading it too thin.

2.)The failing in the premise comes not from stretching the content too thin, but from beginning a show with a road map too vaguely defined. This is how you end up with loose ends and unsatisfying explanations
