>It's a damn minigun!
This really broke immersion for me - why would they have the actor call it a minigun when it's not "mini" at all. It takes a cyborg to hold the thing. Do these studios not have a gun expert to advise them the actor should have said something like "it's a damn Gatling gun!"?

Because it's not a Gatling gun. It's a mini gun.
Apparently Arnold was the only person on set who could actually lift the thing
I would prefer if they named it a heligun

No.

Irl they aren't that heavy -50 to 70!pounds. But you factor in the hundreds of pounds of ammo you need to fire it for more than a few seconds and the power source and then ungodly recoil if it's not mounted.

Because that is what they are actually called.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minigun
>The "Mini" in the name is in comparison to larger caliber designs that use a rotary barrel design, such as General Electric's earlier 20-millimeter M61 Vulcan, and "gun" for the use of rifle caliber bullets instead of shells used by an autocannon.

/k/ here. Because it IS a minigun. It's called that because it's a scaled down version of a hauling gun used on military aircraft.

Yeah that's true, even blanks are heavy. From all the behind the scenes documentaries I've seen from movies, it doesn't look like your average crew man hits the gym often.
