How much comfy trek kino did we miss out on because season 5 got cancelled? If ENT had actually completed it's whole run, I doubt we would have gotten the abomination that is the JJverse.

The Kzinti from the Animated Series were going to show up in Season 5 and officially enter the Star Trek canon. This was the biggest loss imo.

They would have been interesting villains. Basically a lot like the Klingons but even more ferocious and they would devour you if you got captured.
>>
>>83692722
As unfortunate as that abortion looks, oddly enough I feel it better fits the established visual canon of starships better than some. Especially the Defiant.
>>
>>83692722
I rike it, honestly.
>>
Quality of the writing and characters-wise Enterprise isn't much better than Voyager, but for some reason it's 10 times less tedious to watch. Can't really put my finger on it. I think it may have to do with how it's shot.
>>
>>83693680
Its fun.

And the Xindi war actually gives it purpose.
>>
>>83693680
Any two seasons of ENT are better than any two seasons of Voyager and ENT S4 probably has the highest quality quotient of any season of Trek ever; there are two episodes out of 21 that aren't at least an 8/10 and if you ignore the finale like any sane human being should then 19/20 maintain that quality.

The fact that the TNG aesthetic was completely stale by the time that fucking TNG finished its run probably didn't help either.

That was one of the more interesting things about the animated series.I kind of wonder if you could get away with an animated version of Star Trek these days.
>>
>>83695765

There's no way they would have known about them without transmissions from Starfleet Command. Voyager left DS9 before Starfleet had encountered the Dominion in the gamma quadrant.
>>
>>83696007
actually, the federation was informed about the dominion once the defiant returned from the founders world. Voyager launched later that year.
Considering the high profile of the dominion, and the fact that Voyager was operating out of DS9, they definitely would have been briefed.

It never did any any change at all being good. It was a stupid decision to make the first NX-01 so underpowered, that it was mowed almost to bits in almost every episode they met a hostile alien species.

Every battle was just an another deus-ex machina moment waiting to happen, as the ship itself didn't have snowball change in hell against anyone.

And that intro song. Dear god in heaven.

Ya think anyone's ever dozed off sitting in one if those?

Like on a particular long trip.

Nice reclined position.

Nothing going on.

All is quiet, except for the hum of the engine and the rhythmic sounds of the computer.

Captain in his ready room looking over some shit, probably reading poetry or something.

Riker quietly flirting with the ships councilor next to him.

Staring at the same console, little lights flashing on and off hypnotically.

Eyes a little dry.

It's actually pretty decent and the episode about Spock's childhood is legitimately one of the better episodes of trek in general. The thing I like the most about it is that unlike TOS there are episodes where Uhura and Sulu actually get episodes where they are the main characters instead of just hanging around the bridge 24/7. Definitely worth watching if you have watched everything else and want more trek. At the very least it's better than most of Voyager and season 1&2 ENT.

Based set design. You get to see Riker covered in printer ink. The worst character dies. Picard solves the problem with a based speech.

they did pretty well against a lot of species that they were underpowered against and a captain wanting more firepower in the end made it something unique in treklore.

A pro-military captain who also loved exploring was refreshing. If more honest as well.

The humans being underdogs for a change was a good thing.

Humans in rest of trek are super snowflakes.

If that's a "refit", it's clear Trek doesn't have a concept of what a refit means. But we knew this already with the A where hard-to-change dimensions were expanded such that it was a completely new ship.

>>
>>83712694
Either bait or total retard. The point of Dear Doctor was to set the basis of the Prime Directive. If the Prime Directive existed, the Enterprise would have never even spoken with those aliens.
>>
>>83712694
Archer and Flox could have discussed with the aliens that they can save them, but the other race of their planet is getting smarter. so they will need to be prepared for the societal changes that will happen. when both races are equal in mental capability, or the formerly dumb race overtakes the formerly smartest race in intelligence.
>>
>>83712766
except the alien in the incredibly slow spaceship already knew the Enterprise existed.

with out internvention. the smart race would have died off, but the dumb race would not have caught up in time to take the reins of society. which would have caused a collapse of civilization. leaving the dumb race to catch up while having to completely rebuild. potentially dooming both races.
>>
>>83712766
The prime directive is fucking stupid. The Organians basically had their own Prime Directive and Archer just threw a hissy fit until they broke it for him. Then a century later the Organians basically save the Federation and Klingons from destroying each other by forcing them into detente.

The whole idea of the Prime Directive comes from how European colonization was bad, but there's a big difference between giving genuine humanitarian aid to a less-developed civilization and exploiting them for for profit and the PD doesn't distinguish between the two at all.
>>
The second best character on Voyager.
>>
>>83712900
and the threshold for the PD is if they are warp capable or not.

so any advanced civilization that is on par with the Federation, but just hasn't bothered to make warp drive yet. Is beneath the Federation's notice.

he's probably talking about the cogenitor episode, basically instead of having mating pairs of 2, they needed a 3rd one in the mix as a sort of ingredient needed to produce children. Essentially an entire sub species that turned their species into triad.

Not sure if they were artifically created or if something happened to original species and that was their fix to keep breeding.

in trying to get freedom for the subspecies, trip begins to destabilize things trying to give the space aliens some Merica.

Enterprise was the only Trek series that was good from the very beginning.

Seasons 1-3 were the best. Season 4 was when the quality started to fade. Most all of the stinkers are in season 4.

There was some weird competitive licensing that went on when VOY and DS9 were airing simultaneously. Essentially VOY could have exclusive rights to the Borg as a villain, but DS9 got rights to all the established Alpha/Beta quadrant stuff. Hence, DS9 got to have the Dominion War and never had to explain why the Borg threat was not an issue in that time or why the Borg hadn't attacked the dominion. And VOY got to have the Borg to fill the latter 5 seasons of its 7 season run, but never had to have anything else going for it.

Also, let's not forget "Bound", that retarded green Orion slut episode. You'd have to be a fat, ugly, pimply-faced, sex-starved, permavirgin fanboi to find either one of those talentless, pond scum-colored cunts even mildly attractive. And don't even get me started on the whole, "The slaves were really the masters all along" bullshit.

The only thing good about it was the fact that Trip was immune to their smelly cunts.

AUGH

What is the function of the white lighted panels on the floor? Floor lighting here should be thoughtful and functional like airliner floor lighting. Why have multiple levels of steps between the level of turbolift access and the ops/helm/captain's stations? What the hell is the purpose of any of that shit on the ceiling? How does anyone work a full shift on this bridge without their eyeballs bleeding out?

For the most part, Star Trek is a nothing but a bunch of gay, ham-fisted, preachy pc/sjw bullshit propaganda… especially tng, voyager, and ds9.

The only Trek really worth watching is the original tos pilot, "The Cage", and Enterprise.

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again.

Seriously, what's with all the reposts? You're giving Enterprise fans a bad name by posting stale pasta in every thread.
>>
>>83724852
things that never happened
no one complains about TOS fans, VOY fans etc.
turns out that people complain about people that spam the same shit all the time and can't avoid insulting other people and shows, how bizarre

Oh... and then there's "Stormfront", which, aside from some wonderful visuals of a shuttle being attacked by WWII fighters, and the NX-01 flying low over Manhattan, presented a truly god-awful propaganda story about stereotypical, cartoonish "Nazis" doing stereotypical, cartoonish "Nazi" things, and topping it off with Bobby Baccalieri acting very poorly like a "tough guy" named "Carmine" with a "little sister" who is a moulinyan.

The best part of that two-parter was the part two intro... If only.

What a disappointing (You).

I guess to start I'd say it follows the nacelles over the hull soft rule better than the nebula class ever did. Ship in general looks better than it too.

Or the Oberth. Fuck the Oberth.

But I was trying to remain general because my focus was entirely on my hatred of the Defiant. So I'm going to stick to that. Fuck the Defiant.
