Somehow avoided seeing this until just now at age 25. Pretty fuckin great.

>people born when this movie came out can legally post on 4chan now

Just avoid the sequels. Be happy, ignore.
>>83678952
Oh fuck they're bad? I was hoping they're good since the ending is so anticlimactic.
>>83679033
Watch the animatrix
>>83679033
the ending is great though
People say the action is dated or looks dumb today but I think it's very stylish and unique and it doesn't have to be held to generic action standards.
>>83679033
Bad? No, the expression is "unbelievably terrible".
>>83679033
it's a drop in quality but each movie has their moments, especially the freeway scene in the 2nd one and the mech vs machines part and final duel
If you enjoyed the first one you should check them out
>>83679033
They're not that bad, just nowhere as good as the original.
>you will never have magic powers
why even live
There are people on /tv/ right now that haven't seen the Matrix.
Off yourselves.Or go watch it.
>see Reloaded at midnight screening
>The Matrix is my favorite my at the time
>Reloaded is just non stop action adrenaline the whole time and I'm hyped on soda and candy
In retrospect it's not a good movie, but that first viewing was fun as fuck

Be the Neo of your own story, anon.
>>83679033
don't believe the dumb memers. matrix 2 is almost as good as matrix 1, and matrix 3 is a good conclusion although it doesnt offer too much as a standalone movie
>>83679033
Even though it wasn't quite as good as the original, I really like Reloaded...Revolutions did not live up to the promise...at all.

>you will never have magic powers
>you will never have a gf with magical powers
>your group of friends will never have magical powers
>you will never save the world and fight monsters with your magical friends

I think peoples hate for the other two are blown out of proportion. Yes the first one was great and the sequels aren't as good, but they are no where near as bad as say sequels to terminator or alien franchise(not counting T2 or aliens)
>>83679033
the sequels have great individual scenes, but theres literally nothing of interest tying them together. nothing like the first movie which is just great overall and feels complete.

There's an incredible wealth of world building, symbolism, and biblical and other mythical allusion in the two sequels. If you think you're getting a dumb popcorn action flik you will probably tune out most of the dialogue after your eyes glaze over from the 20m+ motorcycle chases and indoor shootouts and fight-scenes. I can't blame you if you do this, but at least be aware of the fact that there is much much more to unpack and understand. If you do end up watching them, pay very special attention to the exchange Neo has with the Architect in his sanctum. That one scene might be the most significant one in the entire trilogy, and most people go right through it getting absolutely nothing from it other than which door Neo ends up choosing, all because they're mentally drained from the action scenes, and the diction used is abnormal. Names, relations and even seeming throwaway dialogue all have specific meaning and will help you more completely understand what is going on and the story that is trying to be conveyed, if you have the attention span to keep track of and unravel it all.
I'm the opposite, just watched it as well and it was horrible. Worst thing ive watched in years.

good christ I hope this is trolling
Matrix symbolism is all surface level unless you get into fanwank theories. Just read an actual philosophy book instead. It's not like the Wachowskis are actually smart or had anything insightful to say. Matrix 2 & 3 are them trying so damn hard to not be cliche and falling on their stupid faces because of it.
