I didn't like the first one very much, but I actually am kind of excited for the sequels.

The first movie was essentially just 2 hours of world building. Now that James Cameron is planning to use the world he's already established and apply it to a long-running series, planned out from beginning to end with one visionary director the whole way through, I have a feeling this series could be one of the greatest series of sci-fi adventure films we've ever seen.

Honestly I don't know. Yes, Avatar is #1 movie ever, but it has no fanbase, and other than 2 and something billions it has no legacy. Star Wars on the other hand, does.
