Twin Peaks has always been a show where nothing ever happens. 25 years ago the network had to basically force Lynch to progress the story, then he got butthurt and quit.

It's basically become a Lynch film in TV format. IMO the new season is missing the soap elements ofcourse. But more importantly, it's missing Angelo Badalamenti's score.. So much of what is happening in the new season is accompanied by silence.

I liked it. I did expect dumb coop to return episode 5 and I am hoping to see him in complete form soon I'm still enjoying each episode and it's keeping me wanting more.

When cooper kept his hand on the cowboy statue and the music started playing sat the credits rolled the music combined with looking at a character I liked in a nearly unrecognizable state made me feel sad

I agree that it is slow and feels strangely empty but it's also very enigmatic (with some strong scenes like the last scene with Evil Coop with the jail telephone).

I like Mulholland Drive, and it has the same style, but yes, I'm feeling a little bored (however, Mulholland Drive also had some goofy and boring scenes that absolutely meant something when you solve the puzzle at the end).

This is the interesting thing for me. It was filmed from a single giant script and the material divided into episodes after filming.
Another fun thing is how this style makes you aware who is just a name-dropping faggot that only knew Twin Peaks and who has actually seen Lynchs filmography.

I swear, I usually hate art, but Lynch's art is clearly beyond your guys' comprehension. The first episode has zero Badalamenti music. That's how it's supposed to be. As elements from the old series creep in, so does the music. Notice in Part 5 how the humorous music is back, especially before and after the elevator scene with Dougie/Coop. Also notice how Dougie/Coop is starting to gain his identity back, repeating phrases like "damn good joe" "he's lying" "agent" and "case files". Coop is starting to realize who he is. Along with that realization comes more and more Badalamenti music. I take it that by the finale, Coop will be somewhat back to normal and Badalamenti's score will be in full swing.
