There's definately strong leftist commentary and motifs in the series. That being said, it's an incredibly faithful adaptation to the book and the material that they are adding, is for the most part, superb.

Of course there's the lynching commentary, the extremely graphic gay sex seen that shows penis and anal sex for 15 minutes, the Anansi BLM speech, and the border crossers.

I don't agree with most of what they're trying to sell in those moments, but the show is still great in spite of that.

And really, it makes sense how some of these God's are depicted. Like it makes sense that the god of angry modern blacks be an angry BLM type god. Or that the Mexican notion of Jesus would help them cross the border. People create gods in their own image.

Still. It's a superb show tied with Better Call Saul as the best thing on tv. I eagerly await each new episode.
