anyone else watch this film recently? The plot twist at the end was so obvious.
>>
>>83541197
Well that's what happens when you limit the possible outcomes to 2.
>>
>>83541437
plus in the movie she says she can't pilot
>>
>>83541197
It had a pacing issue, but it was still pretty good I thought. The parts where the alien is doing stuff are pretty thrilling, but the moments where it goes back to the humans being retarded it just drags.
>>
>>83541197
yeah it was fucking stupid
>>
>>83541197
Just because it was obvious doesn't mean it was bad. I was pretty happy that they actually went for it and the music during that last shot was perfect.

The most memorable scene for me was when it was trying to crawl into Ryan Reynolds mouth. He did a great bit of acting there.
>>
>>83541197
Watched it today after that big thread earlier. It was absolutely average as fuck. Some good tone setting, couple creepy moments, but there were pretty much zero good kills, and everything was just totally by the numbers.
>>
>>83542001
Sums up my thoughts. Decent, but nothing memorable.
>>
Goin' /pol/ for a second here, but it's amazing how they sneak shit in there. The black dude is "British", which is no longer an ethnicity but a vague globalist concept, and Gylenhall's character did medical work in Syria and was torn up from "all the bombings." Little on the nose there, Hollywood.
>>
What doesn't make sense is why her escape pod malfunctioned, and somehow that error caused it to fling out into space rather than crash down to Earth. Both pods should have returned.
>>
>>83542612
Her pod was damaged, but that still doesn't explain how Jake's was able to autocorrect at the last second with his overriding being briefly interrupted while hers just said fuck it and started shooting off instead of the autopilot correcting it. They both went through the same debris field. It was just a "haha fuck you audience!" moment.

It was a great origin story to Venom but Sony pictures is too stupid to realize it.
>>
Why were the people in the Soyuz that attached in the end? I've thought it would automately push the ISS into deep space, or just had a nuke on board.
>>
>>83542725
>Why were the people in the Soyuz that attached in the end?

1) It was a drone
2) A nuke detonating that close to the atmosphere blowing up a huge chunk of metal which would just hit the earth on re-entry is reckless.
>>
>>83542754

THere were people in there. Calvin was eating them. You hear them scream when the jap is floating away
>>
Once you realize these aren't astronauts in space and are Hollywood actors in space this movie is almost tolerable
>>
>>83542754
Also a decent nuke would be able to completely vaporize the ISS.
>>
>>83542961
>nuke in space
>vaporizing anything
>>
>>83543133
>what is the sun
>>
I don't wanna watch this movie what's the plot twist
>>
>>83543537
fusion=/=fision
>>
>>83543608
Jake and Interchangeable-Female need to GTFO the ISS but there's 2 pods and an ayy. Jake decides to sacrifice himself and take the ayy to deep space while the woman goes down to earth. Surprise: Jake's pod with the ayy is the one that makes it to earth instead
>>
Watched this last night.

The film was complete and utter garbage. The plot is driven by a bunch of Astronauts - humanity's best and brightest - making dumb decision after dumb decision. It relied upon NASA approving research of Alien life onboard a station without even the most basic of containment systems.

At one point the alien kills the man trapped in the room with it. The alien then escapes through open air vents. How the lab wasn't sealed the moment the alien showed even remote signs of being intelligent is beyond me.

How the soyuz drone didn't contain a nuke is beyond me.

How the ISS computer failed at the exact time the Alien was making its escape is beyond me.

There's not a single redeemable feature in this film and you will feel dumber having watched it.
>>
> Soyuz drone docks in order to push the ISS into outer space as part of the ISS's last line of defense against an alien threat

> Doesn't contain a nuke

> Contains living astronauts who for some reason aren't armed to the teeth and expecting the worst

Humanity deserved to die
>>
I didnt like how super strong and smart it was when it was tiny. If by the time it got biger its powers scaled then it would easily break people in half instead of just crawling around there arms or body and it would be smart as fuck too.
>>
>>83541197
shit was bland as fuck
>>
>>83544430
This man brings up good points.
also
>i disable automatic landing on your pod
>pod lands automaticaly

I am fine with alien killing everything and everyone, but god damnit, couldn't they just make a good alien horror movie for once.
It feels like the whole fucking genre peaked at the first Alien movie and has beein in a steady decline since.
>>83544542
This so much.
>can't shke it of when it's small and it mangles guy's hand.
>can't hold onto that chick when atmosphere s being vented, if though humans who should be weaker can hold on easily
>>
>>83544773
Then at the end it was just going for the oxygen lamps and ignoring jake like an animal. It would be smarter then any human at that size. Also when it was clinging to the lady in the space suit outside it should of been able to break every bone in her body. Though i think it was keeping her alive to get let inside. If she really wanted to kill it she would of just grabed it and jumped into space.
>>
>calvin a cute :3
>>
>>83544917
And the way it fed just a little on reynolds and then spent the rest of the time looking for more to eat, when it already had a whole fucking adult male body. Just get huge and destroy shit.
>>
>>83544430
also, how the ISS has no fuel after a couple of thrusts a second long
>>
Apart from everything already mentioned ITT, I never had "fear" that Calvin would get down to earth. It's prime advantage is that it's fast in zero g, pretty strong and resilient against fire. I kept imagining it crawling around on the floor on earth like an octopus out of water and I can't imagine a couple of shotgun shots not doing the trick of killing it.
>>
>>83541197
>alien containment room
>the alien can escape through the air vents
>they can only shut down the air vents one at a time (???)
>there isn't a big emergency red button that immediately locks everything into ULTRA SECURE MODE
It was honestly the dumbest thing I had ever seen. They were researching evolving life and barely took any precautions to secure the room.
>>
>>83545901
Its highly adaptable. It would just because become terrifyingly strong in Earth's environment. The first thing it would do is swim around the sea hunting all life to extinction while multiplying rapidly. Then there would be millions of these things floating around until they get hungry.
>>
>>83545990
I agree, and even further:
>The air vents should lead to nothing but nitrogen storage containers, either liquid or pressurized. How does it find any way into the ships general atmosphere from there?
>Crawling into the thrusters somehow leads to the ship's atmosphere too, not just fuel storage.
How is all this stuff connected to each other without depressurizing the ship?
>>

>>
I watched about 35 minutes, it's so bad you have to wonder how they got the budget for this stupid movie. The first scene is soooo dumb. A guy catches a space probe travelling at high speed. we don't even understand why they needed some astronaut outside the shuttle since it's the arm that blocked the probe. We don't even understand what the guy is doing because the camera is following the idiotic crew moving around inside

>>
Welp, that was average as fuck.

Alien Convenient was better.
>>
just got done watching it i liked it there was the obvious dumb problems like in most sci fi movies but for what it was i think a sequel on earth wouldn't be that bad considering it could basically turn into a kaiju movie
>>
>The second firewall is by design breached automatically if a fire is detected in the room.
How? Containment rooms such as this are designed to withstand fire for hours, especially on a space station. There's no emergency system taking away manual control to open the floodgates in case of fire. It's called a "firewall".
>>
>>83541197
I mean I didn't think his parents were lying to him, but it's good he got out of that bubble
>>
>>83546288
this, i was wondering this too, this thing must have made a wholesomwhere in the thruster parts to get back inside the station.
>>
How come both this and Covenant felt like having retarded and predictable BAD END TWEEEST with spoopy music to boot? At least in Alien it's a lead in to further movies, here it's just a gutpunch for shock's value. They couldn't even stage it right.

>>
So it's confirmed that this is a prequel to Venom right?

The final shot has him engulfed by the alien. It's probably become a symbiot i.e. venom from Spiderman.
>>
>>83541197

I enjoyed it, simply because it had decent actors and the monster design was great.

Obviously I can understand when people say: SO DUMB LOLZ, but thats part of popular entertainment. You always have braindead people insecure about their own intelligence claiming to know what smart people would do in situations of life/death without precedent.

I enjoyed it, but the ending was obviously predictable.

>>
>>83544430
This.
I've had the exact same thoughts when Prometheus Déjà-vu kicked in for me.

This entire mission was build around alien life and its research and the most important room on the entire station where all the alien interactivity will take place - the lab, did not have an isolated, failsafe containment system that sealed and isolated it off in case of emergency with a big fat red button?
What the fuck was that about having to close every single air vent manually?
After that the flick became irredeemable for me.
Fuck, screenwriters are shit these days.

>>
This movie was so bad it made it actually made Alien: Covenant good in comparison.
I have many autistic things to nitpick, but what really bothered me was how inconsistent Calvins strength was. Really early on it can break the niggers hand with ease, but later on it had many chances to crush the other astronauts limbs/skull and it doesnt reall do anything. Like when the woman went out of the ISS to fix the communications, Calvin couldve easily crush her visor and instantly kill her, or straight up break her leg when it latches onto her, but it decides to fuck with her cooling equipment. What was that for, just to give us the """""""""terrifying"""""""""" death by drowning in her own suit? Or when the jap astronaut locks himself in the sleeping pod, Calvin couldve easily cracked that thing open, but it gives up for no reason at all.

The concept was good, sci-fi horror in todays setting, other than somewhere in the future, but they really fucked up the execution.
>>
>>83552792
>Calvin couldve easily crush her visor and instantly kill her, or straight up break her leg when it latches onto her, but it decides to fuck with her cooling equipment.
Wasn't he trying to force her back into the ISS, and it would've been detrimental to him to kill her? maybe idiot
>>
Also I find it funny how they managed to shoehorn a crippled nigger as a top biologist and he was the one who fucked up everything.

What did they mean by this?

maybe 200 miles faster than the craft. They need to match orbital velocity of the probe IRL in order to catch it. Objects are actually moving closer to 10,000 miles an hour. The reason things don't seem like they're moving is because they're all moving at the same speed. If you look down at the Earth from the ISS you can see it moving very quickly beneath the station. This scene is stupid for the above reasons.

Solid 6/10 movie if you're a fan of both horror and sci-fi. I feel a few tweaks to the dialogue and a better ending could have bumped it up to an easy 7. The part where it crushes the niggas hand and drowns the chick in her suit were very good as I'm anxious about those sort of scenarios.

Endings I would have preferred;

>Calvin becomes peaceful after being fed the oxygen sticks - remember it only attacked in self-defense at first - and engages David in conversation using Morse code flashes as the two of them drift into deep space
