You mean the entire space station? That would take a while, it would probably be easier to build a new one from scratch.

And they weren't making a conscious effort to replace anything, stuff was just breaking or wearing down and the Bajorans (then later the Federation) had no Cardassian replacement parts, so they used their own.

Because it was easier and less time consuming to rewire parts to do Federation stuff than replace everything in the entire station with Federation components. Might as well build a new space station at that point.

If you even watched the show, you'd know the Federation and Bajoran governments consider DS9 a nuisance and only do the bare minimum to help them out. By the time they realize the strategic importance, they no longer have the resources or manpower to support them as they are getting their asses handed to them by the Dominion.

They don't massive replicators bigger than a space station. They have giant ones that can make large amounts of resources but it still requires man power to assemble them. Also to make a space station from photons would take a fuckton amount of power. Even Voyager showed the small ones take lots of energy as they had to ration usage of them and fall back on using real ingredients for making food.

Have you ever watched Star Trek? TNG did an episode with a Dyson Sphere as a part of the plot and they were blown away by one even existing. To them it was still theoretical. Also to build one would take centuries even if they worked non-stop with constant resources and energy. It's just not feasible at that point in their time.

The Federation needs some limitations in what it can do otherwise they would just take over with ease because they can effectively do anything with their technology and everyone would wanna join them because they can literally provide everything they would ever need.
