I could stomach the unneeded homosex, but fuck these slow-motion action scenes with gallons of blood being thrown everywhere are terrible. Do they think gratuitous violence is still cool and edgy? That shit is just distracting it makes the show seem cheap and tacky. I

Some changes from the book I'm thinking they're going to have a hard tile to leave up to later on.
Very self-indulgent directing that can grow irritating over time.

But then some incredible performances by actors that manage to carry things in spite of all.
Some pretty cool scripting if that's your jam (I really dig how they managed to leave up to the new gods all talking in clichés, for one).

Overall I'd say worth seeing, though I don't know about its staying power in current planned form.

And yeah, Peter Stormare killed it. Crispin Glover was very strong too. More than I expected. And may just be me, but I love the way Ian McShane overplays things with a hint of ironic contempt (Wednesday's, not his) when in the background.

It's a great show and I think it's fun to watch. Although I wish that Czernobog was played by Rade Serbedzija,because while Stormare has the look,he is butchering the accent.

The way people talked about the gay sex scene ("it's basically porn, amazing!") I thought it was gonna be very explicit.

It was nothing. I saw hairy legs and CGI penis and a bunch of mystical shit, but it was a lot less than what I was expecting.

Sunday's episode was incredibly fucking creepy. I mean, yeah, it's Crispin Glover so of course it was, but Jesus was Gillian Anderson deeply disconcerting. That entire scene was jus...yeesh!

They're pumping up the disturbing angle of the story which I felt was lacking in the novel, and I really appreciate that.

I haven't read anything about this story, but so far the gods seem confusing. Like I'm never going to get a full overview of their form, function, origin, purpose, or anything in between. We might be left with a contrived fantasy with no proper world building, not sure yet. I'm enjoying the show, but I hope they don't leave the audience to decide exactly what these gods are, who they are, why, etc.

God's are created by humans, and survive on worship and adoration. They are the big concepts that we dream up and then concentrate our attention on. They can be the old gods from the old country (Jesus, Odin, Yahweh, Thor, Osiris, Czernobog, leprechauns, etc or the new gods of media, technology, cars, etc). There's no greater reason for any of them to exist other than that they do.
