GIVEN the RUMORS, that Star Trek Discovery is NOT following the TOS/TNG timeline , why MIGHT CBS Corp NOT give fans what they want?
Why would CBS Corp (RUMORED) choose to NOT progress the TNG timeline of Star Trek, which many fans want?
Probably because they know they're too incompetent to actually bother with continuity so they just want to 'go their own way.'
In all likelyhood it's set in the jar jar abrahms universe.

>they know they're too incompetent to actually bother with continuity
If this is true, they passed up the chance to hire the fanfic creators of Star Trek Anaxar, which many fans praised, and those creators nearly sued for starting to make money.
If true I see this all as a true missed opportunity to actually supply something fans have long desperately wanted.
Seth Macfarlane's The Orville is a good example of what fans really want. A Star Trek that follows the sleek futuristic progression of TNG, or maybe even farther into the future with the temporal agent stories.

>looks like a better Star Trek than Star Trek Discovery
Agreed.
>>83364556
Because it is run by suits. Previous Trek shows had continuity from TOS-movies to ENT. Same Trekkies running stuff. Yep, Berman-Braga combo that got stale in their two decade run of the show.

>those creators nearly sued for starting to make money.
They sued 'em... and continued on path set up by JJ to fuck the thing that kept Trek alive for 50 fucking years... Trekkies.
>maybe even farther into the future with the temporal agent stories.
Fuck no. The time travel stories are fan favorites because they pit future against current fucking year and current sensibilities. Fun one off episodes... but too complicated to run a whole show on... ENT proved that. It got good on moment it dumped the temporal cold war. ENT was already run on misleading shit coming from market research.
One time travel episode per season is fine... basing a show on it is too much and too complicated.

>casts himself in everything he's ever made
This talentless hack's ego is the size of jupiter.
Plus wasn't this idea already done with Galaxy Quest?

As if anything original gets made these days.

>idea already done with Galaxy Quest?
Galaxy Quest was a parody but based on a fictional TV show in which aliens imitate the Star trek like TV show.
So your belief is that if a concept is done, it should never be done again, or better?
Literally if your belief is followed nothing will ever be created from now on since according to you nothing can ever be similar ever again.
Also, Galaxy Quest was alright, but very limited even as a movie. There was much more that could have been done with it that wasn't.

I thought it was a prequel to ToS
