Why are tv and film scores so atrocious even when compared to run of the mill foreign compositions in anime or even video games? Why can't they produce a single good composer outside of John Williams? Sure he's fantastic, but he'll die someday and he's the only worthwhile man in the whole stagnant industry. Sort of like how all your action movie stars are old men way past their prime. Hollywood just can't adapt or create new things. Why is that?

Yeah, it's true he rarely does live-action movies but he did some few live-action movies like Enchanted, Newsies and pic related.
And yes, he often does musical numbers but the scores he make are really good, even on their own.
