In a setting where magic actually, really exists, it doesn't make a lot of sense to use real historical analogies. Like if you can literally see the future and read people's minds with magic, then you actually objectively can be some kind of perfectly enlightened leader and lift everyone up and make a just and fair and beautiful world where there's happiness for everyone and no one is left out. Voldemort was driven insane by his fear of death and by the kind of magic he used to become immortal. By the time he was trying to take anything over, he was already a monster. Salem was never like that in any way. He wanted to save everyone. Like, magic can cure cancer. Everyone's cancer in the world. And it can end war. All the wars happening forever. And etc. He just jumped too early, before he was powerful enough to actually achieve it all at once. It's sad, but the world wants paradise all at once, or nothing at all.

Disney did it a while back. That's So Raven, Suite Life and Hannah Montana have all crossed over while some other shows like ANT Farm have featured non-main characters or technology from that universe. Oddly even Jessie who had two actors, Debby Ryan and Sierra McCormick playing different characters in each universe yet other characters sometimes referencing companies from the main one in other episodes. Very convoluted.

There'd be various episodes where he would help the husband frantically look for a gift after forgetting his anniversary, helping the teenage son come up with a creative way of asking his crush to prom, helping Mom carry in the groceries.
