why does this movie have so many fuckin awkward parts? like weird

Written by a bitter old racist who tried to make his bitter racist self-insert some sort of hero he sees himself as for killing little kids in Vietnam.
Obviously it is awkward when non-deluded people see him solve all his problems by just being conservative really really hard.
Hollywood is just too disconnected from real world issues.
