The Jedi keep causing shit because they are under the mistaken impression that their ethos is the actual will of the force. This is why the foce "corrupts" Jedi (and ultimately creates Anakin as the nuclear option when everything else failed), because that is the only way to restore balance

GTFO with your bullshit "Gray Jedi," reddit-tier head canon. The Dark Side is a perversion of the force. "Balance" means all light side. Lucas stated this multiple times. The force allowed the Jedi to be wiped out because they drifted away from their original goal of fighting the dark side to fighting enemies of the Republic. They needed to be purged so that Anakin could eventually destroy the sith and so Luke could build a new order in line with their original apolitical purpose.
