life hasn't really changed significantly since 1980 so it'll probably be the exact same shit in 2050 too

It makes me wonder if people will still watch films from the 80s and such by the time I'm an old man. Like, it could realistically be the case that Alien, for example, will be one hundred years during my lifetime. Will it still be regarded as must-see entertainment, or will it be regarded the same way that we view hundred-year old films now - a curiosity, but not something 99.9% of people would ever watch.
>>83225513
>Exactly the same but with 2015 Simpsons intro

Movies got watcheable in the 1970s and "modern" in 2006. Their development as a medium is done for now, bar better CGI since 3D was a failure.

I think so
I don't think anything from like 1970-onward will age the same way media from prior did (e.g. become 'old timey'). I think we've hit a dead end in cultural evolution and I don't imagine we'll have moved forward significantly by the next century, so we'll probably still be consuming a lot of the same types of content for quite a while
Like, most people can listen to music or watch movies from the 60s and 70s and it still feels 'modern' - or 'postmodern' - whereas anything before that generally is seen as outdated and decrepit. I think this will continue at least another 100 years. The world we live in today was born in the 60s and unless something drastic happens (singularity/nuclear war/etc) I wouldn't be surprised if 2100 is still that same world in many respects.
