Aliens being actiony was a great choice. Everyone saw the Alien by that point, there was no sense in it trying to make it scary again. They made a great decision by changing the genre and exploring the universe further with the space marine shit/Queen etc.

Dawn of the Dead. But in space.

Basically it takes place in a large shopping mall station. First of it's kind. Big fanfare opening, like the Titanic. Way in to the journey things start going wrong and we watch a ragtag group of people make their way to the lifeboats to get out. There is a zoo on board the station where we get the potential to experiment with different kinds of xenos. No engineer shit but the way Aliens get on to the ship is in the big engine room where the space rocket has gathered floating debris from the void and it's a big hive now where a section of the film is set

Alien 3 should have taken place on earth. The queen laid an egg on the transport ship on the way up to the main ship before the big fight. Ship is given orders to head to Earth instead of wherever ripley picked. Entire movie is about Weyland military complex fucking up and causing global infestaion of aliens. More space marines, more splosions, more milf ripley ass. Bam ill take cash please.

mine would start off after the crash of the military installation crashing on earth (alien resurrection).
show clips of government picking up the pieces and finding pieces of xenomorph and finding couple intact eggs.
time passes and shows military experimenting with xenomorph and creating more eggs.
then break out. installation is overrun and military is helpless.
then come the predators
a few humans (in mech gear) and 3 predators on a massive xeno hunt.
(basically avp arcade game), which in the end weyland (bishop - human) is in control of the aliens and creates a bigger queen.
massive fight, but ends with weyland escaping (on ship with more eggs)

Aliens would've been great if the Xenomorphs were never shown and the destruction of the colony was left a mystery. Also if Cameron could write character dialogue, that would've been neat too.

Ash/David is still the best part of the franchise.
