Bigfoot is actually an extradimensional being. This is why people can't kill it much less capture it.

The natives knew of its supernatural abilities and stayed clear of their territories whenever they came close to it.

There are no documentaries I'm aware of that actually go into the supernatural aspect without dismissing it as folklore.

Literature exists on the matter and that would be your best bet for understanding this creature.
