Sherman made seemingly wild claims about the number of men needed to win the war and the number of casualties that would likely be inflicted. He was unceremoniously kicked to the curb, as they thought he was insane (his estimates were actually low compared to the end result). He and Grand form a based broship and proceed to kick ass.

Sherman essentially fostered in a major change in warfare- the idea that by attacking manufacturing and support systems, armies would crumble. Seems basic, but for the most part warfare in the 19th century was about maneuvering and defeating armies in the field to force peace. If you have Netflix, check out the Ken Burns Civil War doc. Docukino at its finest.

I would like to see Jason Clarke give it a go. I think he has a resemblance to Sherman. Mel Gibson should direct it.

The voiceovers were amazing. Whenever I read a Lincoln quote, it defaults to Sam Waterston's voice.

We really need a Erwin Rommel movie.
He was one of the greatest Generals in WW II and on the other hand he was forced to suicide after his fallout with Adolf Hitler.
His mutual respect even today will drive the story home.
You can take like 90% from the book "desert foxes" anyway.

The way things are going, they'll start remaking more movies like this. Red Tails was basically a remake of The Tuskegee Airmen (much better movie). As much as I liked The Battle of the Bulge for the spectacle and an awesome cast, I'd like to see a movie with a bit of accuracy. Band of Brothers did a good job, but it was a very limited viewpoint of a huge event.

They'd better not remake pic related, though.

Gettysburg and Gods and Generals were pretty heavy on Lee. They haven't done a good Grant movie AFAIK. I'd like to see it.

I would love to see a Clint Eastwood movie on Grant/Lee. He'd do it right. I'd also love to see a Mel Gibson version of Lee/Grant facing off during Wilderness and Richmond/Petersburg. You know he'd have a fucken field day with the gore.
