Psychological horror usually plays on everyday anxieties and fears. Shit like pregnancy, fatherhood, mental illnesses, etc is used as a backdrop in most of these. I'm not black but I am a minority - meeting really white people in a really white neighborhood is weird for me, especially if I don't know anyone there. Imagine going and meeting people and everyone is black or mexican or arab or some shit. Another thing in this movie was the fear of meeting your girlfriend's family. It's a lot harder for me than most people, since I'm naturally not all that charismatic or talkative. I have to be a commercialised version of myself for an entire weekend.
