So does Twin Peaks exist in the same universe as Mulholland Drive?

So does Twin Peaks exist in the same universe as Mulholland Drive? This guy shows up to give the same exact dialogue he said about the Winkies monster making him do things a scene after a weird hobo character is in a jail cell

>David Lynch originally wrote the basic idea for the story in the early 1990s, as a spin off of Twin Peaks (1990). The character arc of Betty in the movie was written for "Twin Peaks" supporting character Audrey Horne, who would have been the central figure of the proposed spin-off.

Probably just a reference, like Naomi Watts wearing the same pink cardigan as in the film.

Do you guys think that was the same hobo / spirit / entity / whatever?

It didn't look exactly the same, but the 'idea' of its appearance was close enough you could read it as being the same whatever-it-is.
>>
>same dialogue

I don't remember him talking that long in the show, you sure it was verbatim?

It definitely wasn't the same exact dialogue, but there were strong enough echoes of what he said from Winkies for the connection to be reasonable. Knowing Lynch, that doesn't even have to mean it's the same guy, but maybe that it's some pattern echoing through dream logic or through his work.

He says himself that he actually doesn't really know what his work 'means'.
