Ridley Scott is way past his prime. Both Prometheus and Alien: Covenant were terrible movies and shit on the Alien universe. His ideas are trash and all he does with the new Alien movies is desperately trying to stay relevant. They are just terrible and unnecessary stories with uninteresting characters and boring action set pieces.

I appreciate Nu-Ridley for trying new things with the franchise.
I'm glad he didn't dig Sigourney Weaver up, or Hicks, or Bishop or Ian Holm, or whoever they could find.
I still believe the movies are wasted potential. Prometheus was already a clash between studio vs director visions, and in Covenant it's evident the studio is winning.
I think ideas like the queen are the typical studio bullshit of having a "bigger, badder" alien every film.
I'm sure ideas like that would've lead to the "10 queens vs 10 power loaders" script that never got picked up.
I'm sure this would be what the Blomkamp bullshit would be like, like J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, and it would be worse than Nu-Ridley.

I just wish the alien remained an unknown and unknowable force from the depths of space with no reason or rhyme.

There's a few shots in Alien 3 that make it look like it's eating one or two of the guys that it kills. There's also the fact that it grabs a few of the bodies, and takes off with them.
