FAQ:
>I have never watched Twin Peaks, can I start with Season 3?
No, but you will go watch an awful recap and do it anyway so don't ask
>I have not watched Season 2, can I skip to Season 3?
See above answer
>I have not watched Fire Walk with Me and The Missing Pieces, can I skip to Season 3?
See above answer
>Has everything leaked?
No, everyone is watching them as they come out. Ep 1-2 were released normally on 21st, Ep 3-4 on the internet that same night. Ep 3-4 will be re-aired on 28th. You can probably find torrents for 1-4 starting today.
>When does Episode 5 air?
June 4, same time as premiere

This has been challenging as fuck, and it has a lot of potential so far. It just has to come together going forward and bring in some more OG twin peaks music /classic character scenes and i'm in.

It's VERY different, there's almost no focus on people having secrets so far, it's also been scarier than the OG series so far.

the entire point of this production is to tear up television tropes and preconceptions
Cooper's character as it stands in Seasons 1 and 2 is, by process of time, trope. Why you would think David Lynch would happily return to that territory is beyond me.

IDK man, doesn't make sense to me.

BOB was obsessed with taking Laura Palmers body so he could escape from the Black Lodge. He didn't give a fuck about her garmonbozia as indicated in FWWM and the books.

Wally was one of my absolute favorite parts of the whole thing. Anyone else feeling a STRONG, STRONG television critique pulsing throughout? MILITARY PASSWORD REQUIRED, the dreadful greenscreen in the Gordon and Albert car scene, the box monster killing, it all seems so stylishly unstylish, like literally kitschy.

I'm also feeling Wally as a strong antithesis to young James, perhaps remarking that the age of the motorcycle has come and gone, and any fresh faced dork on a bike cannot help but seem pitiful compared to the grandiose americana symbols that came and went with it.

Dopplecooper is in contact with Jefferies, who has some knowledge of the Dugpa magic alchemy shit Windom Earle had unearthed. He's feeding him information, and in exchange he gets some Dugpa magic to protect himself with.
Jefferies is running the Box to try and suck entities out of the Lodge. Lodge residents can travel in electrical currents, and the Box seems to act as a focal point for that. Jefferies also set up the two kids being killed, that's why all the guards disappeared that one night.

BOBCoop could be the mysterious billionaire that set up the New York experiment couldn't he? He was driving an expensive car, and he could be using modern technology and his knowledge of the Lodge to set up.. something? Maybe a trap for Coop so he can't reclaim his body? Why did Coop suddenly fall through the Lodge and end up in that box?

Bowie didn't seem like one who would die that fast, so they probably planned his scenes but didn't get around to filming them in time.

It's not impossible given they could just have been greenscreening him in, but I think they wanted him in actual sets with other actors, so he died too fast.

The owl was Mike, so were the little glimpses of the lodge in the casino pointing Coop to the jackpots. Okay so who's the billionaire? My only guess (if its a previous character) is Andrew. The secret history says another body was found but not identified at the bank bombing, meaning he probably switcherooed again and is still alive.

Well, they have to write around him because the actor has retired from the industry, last I heard. So I doubt he'll ever show up, the character being sick is likely just another tongue-in-cheek tv trope.

Evil sorcerers that cultivate evil for no reason, and they have access to the Black Lodge and it's power.

The concept comes from Alexandra-David Neel, a lady who became a Tibetan nun, who was kinda dumb and mislabeled a random Buddhist sect as evil sorcerers. It became conflated with the concepts of the white/black lodge in 19th century writings that inspired Frost to write the show.

I'm curious to know if the Tibet connection with the Dugpas will be brought up again, considering Coop mentioning Tibet in S1 and S2 didn't relate to anything else.

He shows up out of nowhere - having apparently been missing for 2 years - and goes on about how we're all living in a dream and that he's been to meetings with black lodge spirits above a convenience store. Then disappears again.
>>
>>83045844
Jeffries found something (the green ring probably) at someone named Judy's place. After that he went into the Black Lodge after disappearing from a hotel in Argentina and appears 2 years later at the FBI building in FWWM where he just raves about shit and asking if they knew who "that" (Cooper) actually was. Then he disappears again. At the end of episode 4 here, Albert says he was contacted by Jeffries (I think it was before he disappeared and before anything in the first season) asking for some information, which I guess he's been giving to not-Cooper. We're not told what the information is though.
>>
>>83045854
>>83045771
I have a theory that cooper has just completely forgotten how to exist as a human in the real world after spending half his life sitting in a chair basically as a ghost, focusing all his strength on simply existing. He just has to slowly relearn how to function as a physical being again.
>>
>>83045276
Who knows? There's very little known about Jeffries, and what is there is mostly cut scenes and interviews, wherein Bowie was under the impression he was playing a heroic character.
>>
>>83045869
I think Coop was being assassinated for his debts. Naomi Watts cries basically and says he can pay "them" now after he comes home with all the money. He was probably in debt with the mob.
>>
>looks like a hog to me

>>
>>83045869
I'm pretty sure the stuff about them wanting to kill Cooper when he's in the car is just some mob hit because Dougie owes a lot of money to some people and isn't related to any of the Lodge stuff.
>>
>>83045547
>there are people saying that there's no story, which is completely untrue
It's not that there's no story at all, but so far through four episodes they haven't been able to tie together a cohesive narrative for us to follow. Season 1 had a major driving force in unearthing the mystery of who killed Laura Palmer, and part of the reason why everyone hates most of season 2 is because it didn't have that anymore. So far this season has a similar problem. To this point we're juggling:

>Coop escaping from the lodge and slowly remembering who he is
>Shaggy getting a murder pinned on him
>The mysterious glass box
>Doppleganger coop vying for his place in the real world
>Dougie's story
>Cole investigating Coop

And not a single one of them has been written as an A plot line to drive the show. Spout your apologist "IT'S LYNCH WHAT DID YOU EXPECT" memes all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that so far this show lacks any sort of forward momentum with a major dramatic question that ties everything together, and that's exactly why we all hated season 2.

I felt like it was implied that Jeffries called him at some point in the past 25 years while Coop has been missing, not before.

Dougie's world is way too abstract and nonsensical to be the real world, Coop is trapped within the glass box and is living an illusion

meh, I'm paying as long as the new season airs. Lynch and co. already got paid, but I think Showtime deserves my lunch money for making this happen. TV almost never does this anymore. even HBO, once the industry leader of pushing boundaries on TV, feels safe and sanitized most of the time. I can't speak to the rest of Showtime's programming, but they undoubtedly get props for this

Except there's already a very engaging plot element, good Coop trying to come back to the real world and stopping evil Coop. That's literally the theme that ties together all of those elements, because Bob is still the villain and he's the direct cause of most of those threads.

You might as well be complaining about Donna going after Jacoby, it's obvious that everything ties together.

At this point, it doesn't matter.

This is probably Lynch's last television work, and from the looks of it, it's going to be an all-encompassing fireball. The fan base is already established, the series is already shot and edited, the return on investment literally doesn't matter, and the studio blessed the world with a laissez-faire approach to investing.

It's literally a miracle happening that may never happen again in television history. The stars aligned for a beloved auteur to make his final mark on the world; he's gone literally maximum kino
>>
>>83045771

My theory is that since his return was 'incomplete', he did not fully escape the black lodge. His body escaped and is essentially a shell running on instinct, reuniting with his conscience/memories will be the plot point here. Something is missing about agent Cooper.
>>
>>83045555
quads of truth right 'ere
>>
>>83045941
The plotline revolves around a mistery man working behind the scenes to orchestrate the situation. He manipulates the billionaire into creating the glass box to either trap or free the original Cooper, he bribes evil coop's followers to kill him, and he tells him he "will be with bob again" via phone.
There is someone orchestrating the whole situation who is after the power of the lodge, and all the various characters who have been driven to different lives and different parts of the world through these 25 years are starting to converge to that mistery, which will probably lead them to twin peaks at the end
>>
>>83046045
nothing yet, possibly nothing ever

lynch likes to make a even mixture of things that are cryptic and symbolic and things that are just cryptic nonsense, just so things aren't TOO on the nose
>>
>>83046057
>This is probably Lynch's last television work

he's only 71. don't know why people keep saying this
>>
>>83045941
People hated season 2 because they took away the mystery behind the show. David Lynch never wanted the killer to be revealed, so when it was, people just stopped watching. The goings on around the town were more of the driving force of the show, not specifically who the killer was. People cared more about the side plots.

Everything that's going on right now is all tied together. Everything you mentioned has a point. Getting mad that they haven't spelled it out for you 4 episodes into an 18 episode season is retarded.

Of course these points will all eventually come together, but the point is that RIGHT NOW there is no major dramatic question for the show, like season 1 had with "who killed Laura Palmer?" That was what drove the first season and made it so successful. There are a bunch of smaller questions in season 3 as of now, but so far there is no major question driving things forward, and that's why it doesn't feel as tight as the first season of the show did. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for surreal Lynchian craziness, but without something grounded for the audience to connect to like that major question, the weirdness doesn't have an accelerator to push down on. This season is fine and definitely way better than season 2, but you all are getting WAAAY caught up in the hype if you honest think it's "the best the show has ever been."

>>83045941
You can't see the plot because you haven't seen the past two seasons, FWWM, or read the books.

It would make complete sense if it did.

Shaggy's murder is related to black lodge, as evidence by the black spirit who disappeared from the cell next to him.

The mysterious glass box is a portal to the black lodge being funded by a Billionaire who's likely a Dugpa.

Doppleganger coop/possibly BOB, is trying to escape the black lodge. BOB's whole motive in S1 and S2 was to escape permanently.

Dougie was created to prevent Doppecoop from being taken back to the black lodge.

Cole is investigating Dopplecoop because something has gone wrong. It's obvious Dopplecoop is up to something, and not the real Coop.

It literally all ties back to the Black Lodge and BOB's attempts to escape it.
>>
I have a few theories guys are they shit?

Since Mike asks if its past or future or whatever, and it kind of looks like the guy coop replaces (Dougie) looks like he's in the eighties judging by his clothes, and everything else matches (except the cars are all fucked up) and this timeline is when he wins his jackpots, I think he could be the 'billionaire who funded the NY box... His wife also acts as if they owe someone and maybe that she'll use it towards something meaningful/big (investing in some apple stock?) I don't think its THAT stupid of a theory... Because obviously 'BOBcoop' is in the present year with his leather jacket and C-Class.

Also I may be the only one who doesn't know this, but BOBcoop has Coops real body right? He's just possessed like Leland? because that would explain Coops autism.

am I right or am I right

No, he's Cooper's doppleganger. Real Cooper was trapped in the lodge while his doppleganger escaped with Bob tagging along inside him.
>>
>>83046329
BOB seems to have permanently fucked something up, possibly the cosmic balance or something which is why the black lodge is so intent on making sure he never leaves forever.

BOB has been the secret thread in everything involved with this show. Everyone thinks its about Laura Palmer but it was always about BOB, it just wasn't obvious.

Your expectations of the tightly-wound TV pilot starring the fish-out-of-water character to hold your hand in getting introduced to the world are clouding your view. This ISN'T season 1 because it's not trying to be.

Your preconceived notions that it should follow the same structure are just as dumb as blindly accepting it.

>>83047024
The series certainly has flaws, but your idea that the lack of a central theme is one makes me think that you're really not understanding anything that's going on, because you've both completely missed the theme, and somehow deluded yourself into thinking that it's absolutely vital for the show.
>>
>>83047024
I get the point you're trying to make, but saying shit like "stop pretending its better than it is" destroy your entire argument. You don't have final say on the TRUE quality of the show. Just because it's not what you want doesn't mean everyone else is pretending to like it.
