How is it that Kingsman comes out of nowhere and is so much better than the actual Bond movie that came out that year? Kingsman was everything Spectre should have been and more.

Kinosman.
>>
I can't remember a single scene or quote from it, but I do notice that there's a thread about it here every single day
>>

There.
>>
>>83042556
Really? I mean, I guess it makes some sense with the sequel coming soon, but I've never seen that many threads about Kingsman. Can you link one?
>>
It was just Agent Cody Banks for 17 year olds.
>>
>>83042507
Sam Mendes wanted shit to be DARK and GRITTY but also wanted to call back to the other movies, which were inherently a little silly.

Matt Vaughn took that silliness and amped it up to the nth degree, while maintaining a level of reverence for the movies it borrowed so liberally from.

Kingsman was, in a word: fun.
>>
>>83042873
This. Heck, they said as much in the dialogue. New spy movies are just too serious these days, at the expense of being interesting. Kingsman was a nice throwback to the good old days of silly fun.

I find the use of "heckin'" amusing when normies do it, especially when it's censored.

Any other context makes it weird.
>>
>>83044398
The thing is, once you get to college you realize that actual profanity isn't all that mature so you loop back around to censoring yourself. Placing emphasis on it, like "WHAT THE FREAKING HECK DID YOU JUST SAY TO ME?" arguably makes it more powerful than swearing.

Kingsman was one of those movies where the villain's plan was more sensible than the hero's.

Give Blofeld better dialogue and a better motivation for wanting to ruin Bond's life, have a better car chase scene and fix some other small things and its a pretty perfect Bond film with perfect pacing (movie actually felt pretty short during second half and I wish there was a Blofeld base shoot out instead of Bond just escaping after killing a few people and blowing full base to Oblivion so quickly).

Thats the problem with the hero/villain story

Anyone can be the "hero" once you understand their perspective, its just about what side of the story you tell and how its framed. Even a complete sadist would be empathetic if you could somehow understand the workings of his brain.

Or maybe some people complain about one thing and other about another. You seem to imply that the same people whine about everything and enjoy nothing.
The people who complain about grimdark will be the ones supporting lighthearted and the ones complaining about reddit quips will like the serious movies.
It's like saying Americans complain no matter what about gun control, they're two different groups that you just lump together under the label of American
>>
>>83050526
The beginning where he gets shot and fails the tests, the new gay Q, those artsy shots and the ending.

As disjointed and ADD medicine requiring QoS was, it managed to emulate Jason Bourne pretty well and be about spycraft.

Skyfall and Spectre are movies done by someone with no respect for the franchise and plots taken out of capeshit whose only capability is beyond average imagery. "I'm Sam Mendes, I'm going to kill M and then make Bond leave the agency" Fuck that noise, that's not what Bond is about.
>>
>>83050746
Hopefully they replace Daniel Craig with Idris Elba next movie and reboot it again.
>>
The answer is because Bond movies are over produced.
Kingsman was free to do what it wanted while Bond movies are micromanaged
>>
>>83050807

The Kingsmen sucked. It couldn't decide if it wanted to be a spoof of Bond films or not. They'd flirt with stuff seeming like parody, but then take it completely seriously. That's not how parody works. It's like they were almost afraid to be funny.

It always confused me why they were drinking at such at young age until I looked up the drinking age in the UK

18 is pretty standard in Europe, some countries it's 16 or 17.
>>
>>83052577
I turned it off before the opening scene even started
>>

Well fuck you even more then.

Well I'll just fuck myself then.
>>
>>83053063
I watched the whole film, but in reverse.

It gives me Spiderman 2 vibes. Which is a good thing.
>>
>>83053493
Anyone else notice that Michael Caine doesn't talk like he has a fist in his mouth in Kingsman? I was surprised.
>>
>>83054228
why is this a reply to me?

you're wasting my time you dumb bitch
>>
That fedora scene is not going to age well.

>A sophisticated British man beats a bunch of unpolished religious Americans to death.
>>
>>83054306
Anyone else notice this guy is pretty aggressive? I think he has Tourette's or something.
>>
>>83054374
You only call it a fedora scene because it offends you personally.

Once Trump's gone it will be business as usual.
>>
>>83042556
I mostly remember Colin Firth kicking a lot of ass and a lot of jokes that don't resonate with me. But damn, that church scene.
>>
>>83054478
One thing's for sure, this movie established Colin Firth as a total badass. I don't think he's ever had to do so many stunts before Kingsman.

I laughed out loud when Harry's naming all these movies and Eggsy doesn't know them but then Eggsy brings up My Fair Lady and Harry gives him a look and says "You're full of surprises."
>>
>>83054703
I keep forgetting that movie even exists. Why did DC make so many random-ass, unconnected comic book movies?

I saw it once going in blind and I remember all this shit. you might be retarded.

I think those people are the kind of people who text while they're watching the movie or listen to it while it's on in the background and still try to claim they "watched" the movie.
>>
>>83055337
it's just the state of /tv/ in 2017. half the people on the board defend or critique shit they haven't even seen and the other half are so insufferable that you can't hold any actual conversation about film or tv or whatever.

the fact that people are STILL using reddit as an insult like 4 years after the reddit boogeyman shit started blows my mind.
>>
>>83042873
Good post.
>>
Kingsman is the most obnoxious film of recent memory.

Mathew Vaughn is Snyder level Director. All style no substance.

also are we meant to like eggsy? his charcater is retarded. doesnt help either that the guy playing him is the posh-est cunt ever in real life yet meant to be this chav with somehow cambridge level intellect.

fuck this movie

Kingsman is an edgy postmodern update of James Bond. So it's more to the tastes of younger people while the Bond films are doing their best to be different but retain some classic appeal and thus can seem more "stale"

He had a big role in Rocknrolla. The story... eh... but it was a pleasure watching Mark Strong in that movie. It's a shame we don't see him as much as we 'should', he seems to have the acting chops to be lead character.

Well, I grew up on a farm watching my dad and uncle shoot pigs in the head with Magnum .44 revolvers and neck hens with axes, so yes.
>>
>>83042507
topkek Kingsman is an adolescents wet dream. The church scene was a sub-tarantino tier try hard choreographers jerk off material.
>>
>>83050559
Now THAT would have made the movie great.
>>
>>83042589
That anal scene was so fucking weird. Made me so uncomfortable I never want to rewatch this movie.

This is the most overrated shitty movie I've ever seen. It's so fucking average I cannot even remember the story.

Everytime there's news coming out reddit blows up.Fuck that shit
>>
>>83059546
Fuck off you underage faggot. The delivery of it was cringy as fuck, no body fucking says that, it felt like it was shoehorned in there to make 14 year old boys love this movie.
>>
>>83059782
Geeze, kidding, but if you really want to roll with it, and it to not bother you, just think that Scandinavians are autists and that on top of that, they sound weird when they make sentences in English, so it's not impossible she would say that.

It's still a bit too "out of nowhere" for me though yeah.

>>83056534
In the trailer he's got an eye patch, I think the timeline of the first movie it was only a few hours after he was shot that Eggsy spoke to Arthur and then they assaulted the base while being radio silent. So I think they'll just say he survived the headshot
