I saw the trailer.
MacFarlane's writing for humor isn't engaging. It's just points at it's own joke and tells you that it's funny and to laugh at it.

Take that one scene from Men in Black 2 - where the one alien thug was a 'Ball-chin-ian' - don't kick him in the groin, punch him in his testicle-chin. Imagine a whole show of just that scene played on repeat for 13 episodes.

Meh for a pilot it doesn't look too bad. Some of the jokes are lame/flat but that's because the show would need to find its voice (just like any other show.) Even the most cynical person has to admit it has potential but I agree that there is a pretty high likelihood of cancellation if for no other reason than Sci-Fi is just not a popular genre for television.
