There's been a lot of episodes where it seems like they do huge chunks in one take. I wouldn't be able to tell for sure without carefully rewatching episodes, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised, especially since Neighborhood of Make-Believe has segments where they have a human go over somewhere to pad time for like 20 seconds, which would be enough for people/Rogers to run over to control puppets in another spot.

PBS children's programming stopped at 6PM (sometimes 7PM) and Saturday morning cartoons (aptly named) at noon. PBS had Sunday morning programming which also stopped at noon.
TV-wise there was nothing targeted at children like me past those points.

Now with every kid having access to at least a computer or, even "better", a phone or tablet you expect them to sit still and watch things? And parents performing their responsibilities to keep their kids from learning about vaginas?
