This happens with completely random frequency in America. Like, some people do it, some don't, and it doesn't seem to have any geographical or cultural trends.

I always say goodbye before I hang up, but I've met plenty of people who don't. I think generally most Americans do say goodbye.

Threads like these make me sad to be American.

It used to be that I thought this was the greatest country in the world, but now I know how backwards everything we do is, how fucked up our country is, from education, to manners, to our whole lifestyle in general.

It's definitely a Hollywood thing only. Hanging up without saying bye is considered to be very rude.
