What did they mean by this?
Seriously, I didn't get what the point of this note was supposed to be. Anyone willing to help me understand?

Probably to highlignt Boris Karloff's performance and point out it really is the same guy who played the monster in Frankenstein. That make up is impressive and audiences might not have even believed it. Also it gets you hyped up for the movie.
>>
I'm more interested in the "mechanical" part. Did the producer even watch the movie? The bolts were to conduct lightning, not because he was a fucking robot!
>>
Not 100% sure, but at the beginning credits of "Frankenstein," Karloff isn't credited with the part. Where it lists "the Monster," it just has a question mark, to make it more mysterious for the audience. So maybe future Karloff films tried pointing out that he was indeed Frankenstein's Monster just to clear things up...?

OP what is that from anyway? I didn't see it when I watched The Old Dark House.

>Wow, I know it's hard to believe young moviegoers, but the star of this fine nickelodeon is in very fact the same Karloff as in the motion picture Frankenstein! Though vexing to the mind, it is indeed true! To all hooligans and roughousers, let all disputes be settled here! Also we know this may be your first movie of all time, but we assure you, we don't get the credits wrong.
>>
Furthermore, we would implore certain rabblerousers to kindly stop barraging us with telegrams calling us cuckolds and implying that our wives have carnal knowledge of the Negroid sort.

We consider this a waste of everyone's time and remind you that the man you all seem to idolize: namely the alt-right Chancellor Adolf Hitler will amount to diddly-squat.

Karloff was more known for serious plays than horror films at the time.

The Management Kindly Offers A Reminder:

This theater is one of several premiere cinema houses across this great country to insist upon a formal NO BACHELORS policy. Gentleman patrons who are not accompanied by their lady must report to the popped corn kernels and salt mine - located underneath the concessions stand - for immediate occupation. REMEMBER! As idle hands lend themselves to the aims of 'Old Scratch', so too does a young man's idle mind lend itself to lackadaisical frivolity! The audience thanks you, this theater thanks you, and YOUR COUNTRY thanks you.

Sincerely,
-The Management

The cast credits were shown again at the end of Frankenstein with Karloff's name revealed. This was done because they wanted to keep the Monster's appearance and actor a complete surprise when it first opened in 1931, to heighten the shock value of his reveal. They even covered up Karloff in the posters before the premiere so no one could know. Pretty ambitious, and impossible in this day and age, what with Internet spoilers and all.

They did the same thing with Elsa Lanchester as the Bride 3 years later, but strangely kept her as a "?" even in the end credits (though she is credited as Mary Shelley).

This is very authentic
