There's an episode of the old Upright Citizens Brigade tv series where she yells "MY VAGINA SMELLS LIKE PINECONES TODAY"

I literally don't remember anything else from the show. But the way she said it and the words were instantly seared into my still developing brain and never left.

This is correct, though I think Michael was at least slightly aware he wasn't popular with his staff and was desperate to be liked, whereas Leslie generally got along with everyone despite being overbearing as fuck at times. That was actually one of the two things that bothered me about the later seasons, Leslie just deciding she was right and barrelling ahead with no real regard to what anyone else thought and them hammering the "everyone hates Gerry/Garry/Larry" joke so far into the ground it cracked the mantle.
