It's honestly not as bad as people say. I mean Predator is a pretty perfect 80s action movie that isn't just stupid, it makes an effort to subvert the genre a bit. Predator 2 tries its own thing but at least rolls with it, the idea of a Predator hunting in the middle of a gang war and fucking up the investigation is pretty neat.

Conceptually sure, that works. But if they're trying to emulate Predator (understandably) they need to get a group of action stars with big personalities. That's the real secret of success.

Look at predator 2, Danny Glover is not action hero material yet he has a very expressive personality thus it worked. Same thing with Gary Busey, he nailed that role because he can have such a loud and large persona.

Filming it in a real jungle with arnold is just icing on the cinema cake.

Predators fails because its just a cast of tropes with reserved personality, they took Lawrence Fishburn who would've killed the role and made him whisper quietly and weird.

Conceptually Predators is an A+. Execution is a C-
