But real talk, I think Judge Dredd is one of the most underrated characters in all of comic books. He's been written as a hero in most stories, but there are a fair few where he's ostensibly the villain yet his character is absolutely no different in either.

Pass. Everything that made Dredd 3D so great literally can not be translated to television. The violence, the barebones easy to digest plot that lets the action and cinematography hold the reigns, the amazing soundtrack, these aren't things you can recreate in an ongoing series without a fuckhuge budget.

I don't want anything in a similar vein as the Stallone movie, and something tells me this show won't be drawing its inspiration from the comics so yeah, pass.

Will there ever be a Dredd adaptation that remembers that it's supposed to be a satire on Modern England and the US police forces overstepping their auhority?

It needs to be offensive, it does offend everyone no matter where you come from.

Needs to be bloody and gory.

Deadpan humor, Dredd does quip but not always and sometimes he does something which is just funny but not to him because he is carrying out the law.

Atmosphere and the correct background characters.

The film was good, it did have it all mostly but i do think that a episode format would work well.

I advise you read Robot Wars. It's in Case Files 1 and is a cornerstone of the Judge Dredd lore. Also for fun's sake maybe near the end of Case Files 01 there's a story of Judge Dredd being a sheriff on the moon. It goes into the rivalry between America and The Sovs (the soviets)

It's not going to be good. The movie was great as an action flick but the fact that it was a Judge Dredd movie was absolutely irrelevant and immaterial because the single most important character in Judge Dredd is Mega-City One and that character was entirely absent from Dredd. Meg-One is a place where intelligent monkeys form street gangs, where the morbidly obese participate in underground eating contests, where mutants and monsters live in the sewers, where the rich pay exorbantly to become fashionably ugly, where the city government operates space colonies and where designer drugs are made from the glands of aliens. It's bizarre and dangerous place. That city was not in the movie. Instead, we got another generic urban dystopia where all of the criminals are gang-bangers with bad haircuts that are still using fucking Hi-points instead of plasma pistols.

Judge Dredd was first and foremost about entertainment. What for example did killing zombies on Judgement day have to do with fascism? Nothing. JD is just a snap shot into a distopian future, but it doesn't really comment on that future one way or the other.
