If I was Lucas I would have just retconned Return of the Jedi where Obi Wan's ghost tells Luke that he trained Anakin and just keep the part where they were supposed to be friends .

In Phantom Menace I would Have had Anakin And Obiwan be Like Ken and Ryu under Qui Gon who gets killed early in the frist movie and they have to solve everything themselves they kinda have a friendly rivalry with Obi Wan being the quipy arrogant one who is not by the book but have Anakin as the withdrawn kinda shy but superior Jedi by the book with the great destiny maybe have them compete for Padme with Obi Wan shocked that she picked Anakin over himself

The prequels were fine you fucking nerds.

Old republic story of betrayal, no love interests, no appeal to children, no Darth Vader backstory.
