As it stands now, there's really no decent cure for male pattern baldness. And the other answer, propecia works by lowering your testosterone (sometimes permanently). Balding is a result of two different factors.

Some men have a lot of Dihydratestosterone, the more androgenic form of testosterone (as in builds more muscles makes dick bigger etc).

And in some men, their genetics cause them to lose hair if there's a lot of dihydratestosterone in their system. While there are a few men that can have a lot of DHT and still keep their hair (but the percentage of men is small). This is why vitually all body builders are bald or balding (and shooting up testosterone has raised their levels of dihydratestosterone enormously).

Now some men just have genetics where virtually any dihydratestosterone makes them bald....

This is why the main drug for male pattern baldness, propecia works by inhibiting dyhydratestorone and has some dangerous side effects.
