Should you be required to watch every one of these films before posting on /tv/?
>>
I can safely say I've only seen one of those
>>
>>82537055
>watching movies made before 2000

lmao @ u famalam
>>
>>82537055
KEK, ive only seen The Godfather and a few scenes from Apocalypse Now.
>>
>>82537171
You watch movies, I watch films.
>>
>>82537171
(you)
2/10 bait
>>
>>82537055
I've only seen one of these, raging bull, and it was boring. Incredibly slow.

Old films don't age well because those audiences didn't have as much exposure to film and thus could only understand a much simpler presentation of a story than that seen in today's film.

But I'm sure it sates your ego having watched shit old films that nobody cares about. Congratulations on literally punishing yourself for a modicum of self worth.

>stories in film are more complex now than they were 50 years ago
it's almost too stupid to be trolling
>>
>>82537603
Nice reading comprehension.

I said the presentation was simpler, not the story itself.

Here's a worksheet, you should practice.
>>
>>82537730
So how is the presentation of the story in modern movies simpler than the presentation of the story in Vertigo or any film on that list?

I just saw Apocalypse Now for the first time last week. Don't ask me why I just saw it, I don't really know.

Fantastic film, but I hated every single fucking character on the PBR except the chief (not chef). I know their characters were meant to represent different things, but their constant retardation and generally annoying behavior made me feel a sense of satisfaction when they got fragged.
>stupidly waste all the civilians on the boat
>act shocked when Willard caps the wounded woman

Rant aside, I think I waited so long to watch it because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype. It actually surpassed the hype for me. Absolute kino.
>>
>>82537055
I dont know how Tokyo Story isn't #1. There is literally no better film than Tokyo Story.
>>
>>82537843
Haven't seen it and have already said I've only seen one film from the list. Please complete the worksheet, your ability to understand written English is abysmal.
>>
>>82537055

>>
>>82538158
because Hitchcock and Chaplin made their movies in USA

Murnau wasn't American either
>>
>>82537603
Hes right though, because many of the film techniques and equipment weren't invented yet. Older movies used more simple means to present. However because it was a simple presentation they made bettee stories that took advantage of the weak means available to them. Hence why practical effects were mastered and new techniques were made nearly every movie.

Modern movies have everything to make a movie so they ride on how pretty they can wrap it up so many times the stories themselves fall flat.

>Alfred Hitchcock called this an "icebox" scene, meaning it's the kind of scene that hits you after you've gone home and start pulling cold chicken out of the icebox. "Hey," says the hypothetical viewer. "How did Kim Novak vanish from the hotel? Did we ever find that out?"
>>
>>82538957

>>82537055

Can somebody please explain "The Rules of the Game" to me. Why was that movie so controversial?
>>
>>82537055
I've seen 15 of those. 2001 will eventually work its way to number 1. Just shows how great Kubrick was. It's the only Sci-fi on the list

I remember when I was a College Freshman and took a Film History course as an elective. I was do deep and a film aficionado. I was so above it all.

What's college like these days OP? Do you have a Scarface poster or is that too "plebian"?

That’s a wonderful list OP.
HOWEVER, most of those are entry level works. Posting in /tv/ requires a deeper sense of the arts which will take time to acquire.
