How do I become an actor? I'm 19 and live in the middle

You are an amateur. Find an amateur director, an amateur screenwriter and something like a smartphone and do two dozen shitty short movies. That will give you some experience.

Studying it at school is helpful
Seek out community theater. If there is none around you, move. Seek further opportunities via those you meet in each production
Remember that you don't have to be famous to support yourself thru performance- but you do have to be good
Be aggressively punctual- always show up on time and learn your lines on time
Don't eat in costume
Accept your fellow actors as the faggy nerds they are
Ignore the cynical 4chan worldview as much as possible

I feel like I might have to eventually do this. If I was in LA or NY I could walk out my front door and audition for dozens of short films, student films, or commercials and choose from hundreds of places to start taking acting classes right off the bat. Unfortunately, my town isn't exactly a hot bed of the entertainment business.

Move to Toronto or Vancouver. They shoot a lot of tv and film there (like all of them).
Get a casting agent. Take literally anything you can get. Do local commercials.

Just remember that shit loads of people from all over the world have the same dream and are currently auditioning to try to become actors. Maybe see if there's any extra or "background" work if you don't land any good roles at first. It still counts as experience. I don't know much about the business but it couldn't hurt to record a few monologues at home 1) To get an impression of what you're like on screen and 2) To potentially send out as a example of what you can do.
You're going to have to be realistic with yourself and ask yourself the hard questions. Am I attractive/charismatic enough to make it? Am I good enough at acting to make it? Lying to yourself will only hurt you in the long run.

Move to LA, take acting classes, network, audition for independent work

That's what I have to figure out. And that's why I really want to try and find stuff to do locally before I do something huge like move to LA only to find out I'm a shit actor.
