I missed on seeing Incredibles in theaters. When I finally caught it years later after the hype died down, I was still pretty disappointed. It's a decent action movie, but there's nothing inherently special about it. I feel like all the hype came from the fact that it was a well-done "meta" capeshit movie, but on its own merits, it's pretty mediocre.

Yeah it was pretty good. The character definitely deserved a stronger script and a more serious tone but the movie is really fun. There were really talented people involved to make it work and I'm glad it's better received now.

Honestly The Shadow movie was just unlucky to have come out as the age of comic book movies was nearing it's end, and it also had to compete with The Lion King in it's opening.

Because it actually was supposed to be a Shadow movie until Raimi lost the rights, at which point he did it anyway by changing a few things.
