Most of the kids back then in special ed really only had minor issues like ADD or ADHD. Maybe a few of them had aspergers. Some with anger issues that passed once they entered middle school. I was in special ed during elementary. I didn't have any other friends and was only ever around special kids so I didn't know any better. When I was 9 or 10 I was watching some show I can't remember and they were talking about retarded kids being in special education and it hit me: I'm in one of those classes. I never really put any thought into it prior. The next year I was in a normal class after asking them about it.

My parents still never told me why I was in special ed. As far as I can tell I'm not retarded and don't have any deformities that need special attention. I'm not in a wheel chair, not deaf or blind. No adhd either.
