This is the norm outside major blockbusters you fucking retard, but if you're funding a film it's convenient that it gets purchased to cover up costs, save money and let someone else do the marketing or join other wealthy people to create a studio. Nocturnal Animals, Manchester by the Sea, Moonlight and Captain Fantastic were all conceived that way.
