yeah except not. The whole "less is more" approach to cinematic action can work well, but in 2014's case they just pad out the movie with generic every-man marine's "muh family" adventure. I thought it was going to be an intriguing monster movie and I ended up with 1/3 monster movie 2/3 mediocre military recruitment fluff. Shin Godzilla is just a better film in terms of writing and characters, and also pacing and action.
