There's a LD nostalgia thing now? Fuck I have like 500 in my garage, a shit ton of box sets, SE's & LE's and stuff i used to pay $100+ for (Amadeus, Tron, Godfather, Jap imports, Alien, Aliens)...... Had the first AC-3 setup around (Dolby Digital now).. Have 3 players. Was going to take them to the shipping port and donate them to a ship for their TV/rec room......

is there an alternate universe where george lucas made awesome prequels, then went on to make 3 awesome sequels, then ended star wars there?

and why don't i live in that universe. I mean i enjoyed the prequels somewhat, they were decent movies, but they totally failed in the main task of showing anakin's decent into being a sith(not going to get into the details because it has been talked about forever here, but any star wars fans will know what i'm talking about, such flimsy reasons, and just not believable) and they went way way way too hard trying to appeal to a new young audience, see jar jar etc. And the new movies, while decent sci fi movies, i barely even see as star wars and have a hard time watching them because in my opinion they just shit all over the name. I think the biggest mistake george made was waiting way too long to make the prequels(i think he was waiting for CGI technology, which ultimately made the movies worse in my opinion) and again tried way too hard to make it appeal to kids.

I grew up loving star wars so much, read every single book ever made, waiting for new movies to come out. Ah well, hopefully in an alternate universe i am watching the amazing prequels and sequels right now

George Lucas is a shitty director and A New Hope was mostly a favorable accident.

So many of his ideas were shot down or changed by cast and crew, that without them, A New Hope would have just been a B-movie oddity of the 70's.

Has anyone ever uploaded the non-altered versions, the ones before the 2000s? As a kid, we had a VHS box set, the ones with Yoda, Vader and a Stormtrooper's faces on em. If I remember correctly, I think these were the last tapes before Lucas really started fucking with them. Shame what he did.
