Just finished watching Stanley Kubrick's™ final movie Eyes Wide Shut™ in 35mm film™.
Anyways, I didn't get it the first I watched it, and I still don't get it know.
What the fuck was the movie about? The desire for sex and lack thereof after marriage? A secret Illuminati-esque society?

>I didn't get it the first I watched it, and I still don't get it know.
Jesus Christ, I fucked up that sentence.
Sexual insecurity
>>82337613
Honestly who gives a shit, Kubrick is a hack. Filmed sex and then censored it in post by putting people in front of the action, like why?
Also: THE dumbest score to ever be committed to a film. As an amateur composer every time I hear that two-note shit I want to kill myself. Someone got paid 5 figures to write the most lazy garbage ever.

Who was the sexually insecure one?
>>82337613
I was triggered by the two gross chinamen that were fucking LeeLee Sobieski
this whole movie triggers me in fact
>>82337743
philistine
also the censored version was put out by the studio because they feared an nc-17 rating. i'm sure most home releases are uncensored (though cropped into 16:9, which is bigger bullshit than censoring the orgy)

harford, obviously. starting from his wife's admission that she almost fucked that guy, he has his sexuality challenged pretty much every where he goes. even out in the street when those guys call him a faggot
what was the implication when he found the mask on the pillow next to his sleeping wife?
>>82337613
It's about the same thing as hotel california: lamenting the perverse and morally bankrupt culture of the rich and famous, which is heavily concentrated in places like california and washington
>>82337613
it was about the prominence of sex and sexual deviancy behind closed doors
>>82337997
I assumed that she found the costume, and knowingly let him take (most of) the costume back to the shop while making him think that he got away with the shit he did that night.
Here have a bump OP, even though you're a faggot.

>lamenting the perverse and morally bankrupt culture of the rich and famous
Never heard that before about the meaning of Hotel California, seems interesting.

The cult broke into his home because he kept making inquiries. He was followed and warned several times.
>>82337937
>getting cucked and emasculated and witnessing child prostitution is being sexually insecure
It was about marriage and what spouses desire, sexually.
AlsoIt's alluded that Bill is either gay or impotent many times throughout the movie, and he
his wife wasn't satisfied with himcouldn't even fuck any women. He cucked himself throughout the film but dodged a bullet with the AIDS girl
>>82337743
No one gives a fuck if you consider yourself an amateur composer Jesus credit this isn't reddit you spastic
>>82340984
>couldn't even fuck any women
Every time he was close to fucking a girl a distraction came up: the girl who OD'd, his wife calling. And he's obviously not fucked up enough to fuck an underage girl, and when he was at the house he was told almost instantly to leave because everyone knew he didn't belong there so it's not like he'd have the chance to fuck anyone.
>>82337743
the score is amazing you fucking pleb.
if you can't recognize that you'll never be more than an "amateur" composer.

People get hung up on the drug references in the song when it's far more about getting into the upper-class hollywood culture of drugs sex etc.
The movie is about a lot of things
It's about Bill's sexual insecurities and how that effects marriage
It's about the dangers that lurk when you engage in immoral sexual conduct like adultery
And yes it is about elite secret societies with occult beliefs and sexual rituals (a recurring theme in Kubrick)
>>82341785
Because he is a cuck.
He couldn't even kiss the dead hooker.
If no ones gonna say it...The movie is nothing more than trying to confer the elite a secrecy and power status and is basically propaganda of rich people
there is nothing revealing about it, showing a porn scene out of nowhere was just a little shocking at best
For the begginers...Rituals of sacrifice are a common biblical theme...people invoking god through this ritual of sacrifice and therefore they are so powerful they can do anything and therefore everyone should be afraid...
So telling you what does that say about the movie? Now if you read some reviews people interpreting it as a tale of marriage...ive never been married but since fear is an underlying theme and certainly it was a movie made by an old man married for a long time...maybe its about forgiving as well...thats at least what i understood. A good marriage = Forgiving. Which is also a recurrent theme in christianism... Anything else you can say
>>82342443
No I think the theme is cognitive dissonance. That's why Kubrick used real life man and wife at the time Scientologist Cruise and Catholic Kidman. After all Cruise sees, forgets all, his wife agrees, the movie ends.
>>82342624
Kubrick was murdered by David Miscavige for pulling Tom away from the church.
>>82342334
why would you kiss a prostitute anyway? especially a dead one?
