4th is okay, but too long for it's own good. The rest are readable, but not on the same level.

You can read the first 3 and stop there (on a cliffhanger, but it's sometimes the best way to end a series. Frankly, I wish I didn't read after volume 3. It was so good, the 4th was a real let down copmpared to it and the resolution of the ciffhanger was very average)

in the books we only see one ascension then remix. A reasonably big deal was made about the horn, but implying just having the horn would fix roland is idiotic. The man is completely broken, as are all obsessives, and having the horn would just give him something else to obsess about. And the book even indicates hes forgotten his ascension and all that remains is the sure knowledge he will ascend. So the idea I'm running on his hes ascended so many times making him black was a minor change from his previous ascension.

Not to mention, king himself said the ending wasn't an ending and indicates he'd be climbing that tower forever, because king himself didn't want to ruin what is widely held as his best work too much with a horrid ending. As hes always really, really bad at endings.

Wizard and Glass was one of my favourites. The way the tension kept building throughout the entire book was so fucking good.
