I was waiting for him to turn evil the whole time, subverting that trope really makes the movie great.
>>82292179
Unironically this in 2010.
2010 is an underrated movie. It's not really comparable to 2001, but it doesn't really try to be. It's a much more straightforward movie, and is no where near as deep, it's pretty typical anti-cold war stuff, but it's well made and has some of the most tense scenes I've ever seen.
>thought all of the androids especially David from the alien universe were the best part of the films.
>the movies are all dedicated to the aliens
why is it so hard for hollywood to make more movies about androids? they're amazing.
>>82293678
You're amazing!

I completely forgot about Silent Running. Thank you for reminding me this exists.
Lots of great movies have been brought up in this thread. Thanks a lot, /tv/ friends.
>>82293453
I watched it yesterday and was thinking the same thing. It's well done in that sense. When it came up from behind to type in the password I though it was just gonna smack him over the head.

Jesus Christ
>>82296047
The Enterprise's computer wasn't an artificial intelligence.
If there are enough subversions of a trope, does that subversion become a trope itself?
>>82296575
An anti-trope is a trope by default.
Bishop was a fucking bro
fifi from the anime version of Metropolis if that counts
Brobot from Jimmy Neutron was literally engineered to be a bro
Giant ;_;
Was he an AI though?
>>82293644
2010 gets shit for not being 2001 2, if it was a separate project it would be a classic
>>82297213
>>82297280
and Baymax all basically have the intellect of Dogs or children which is used to make them more sympathetic, but in terms of a genuinely intelligent and helpful AI
