Why are the Redditors of the Galaxy so popular?
They're not even iconic characters like Batman or Spider-Man, how come people suddenly give a shit about these nobodies?

First one was good, it's a family movie, people love Chris Pratt.

Marvel actually listens to their fans and delivers, Guardians didn't need a built in fanbase, they understand that Tony Stark is a perfect character and then they gave us 5 of him.

Nobody gave a shit about Iron Man either until the first movie. Or any of the MCU Avengers besides Captain America, really. Jesus Christ, Thanos's previous biggest mainstream break was throwing gay bubbles in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. They got redefined by new material and achieved newfound popularity because of it. That's how comics have always been, an incestuous synergy of self-influence. They're constantly being reshaped by new runs, new writers, and new adaptations until one eventually just sticks to the point that they practically retcon decades of material to accommodate the new standard. Spider-Man even canonically, in mainline Earth-616, had organic webs for a short while just because of the Raimi movies. Golden age Batman used to be THE Batman until he got redefined into this sullen "dark knight" in the grim Gotham everyone now knows.
