Yeah, i'm not a big fan. It's good for a handful or two, then it's a chore. It is absolutely vile to hear disgusting people masticating during a film.

I eat popcorn a couple nights a week, I cook it on the stove top using oil. It's really the best way to cook it. I used to have an air popper, but when it broke, it forced me to learn the stove top method, and the smell and taste far exceed the movie theatre. It's the perfect movie snack. A Coca Cola is the ideal liquid candy accompaniment.

1/2 cup popcorn, whatever oil and salt you want. Put it in the stove and turn the crank until it stops popping.

Step 1.) Get a big pot with a lid

Step 2.) Put butter flavored coconut oil in the pot. You need enough oil for the kernels to be 75% submerged in oil. (or regular canola/peanut/vegetable oil)

Step 3.) Put on med-high heat

Step 4.) Let the oil get hot (don't let the oil smoke, where there's smoke, there's soon fire)

Step 5.) Put the kernels in the oil

Step 6.) Wait about 60-90 seconds, shaking the pot occasionally

Step 7.) Turn off heat 1/2 - 3/4 way through popping

Step 8.) When it stops popping, you're done

It's totally worth the tiny amount of effort it takes to make. Not hard at all once you get the hang of it. Plus it has a unique taste you can't get from a microwave or air-popper, it's like a roasted corn taste.

You know I've always noticed movie theater popcorn makes me extremely sluggish and tired. After I return I take a nap and wake up feeling horrible.

Home made popcorn never did this to me, not even microwave bagged popcorn. But one time I cooked homemade popcorn with coconut oil, and I had the name reaction and felt like shit.

Anyone else experience something similar? Maybe Im allergic to coconut oil?
